Joanna Mullins

Joanna Mullins has been a writer, editor, proofreader, planning director, and adjunct teacher over the first half of her working life. An eager traveler, she gobbles up languages and news tidbits from around the world, especially from the UK and Scandinavia, with an eye to whatever seems quirky and strange. She grew up in Philadelphia with a Lutheran minister father and has found the church a constant source of human entertainment as well as intellectual stimulation. She also finds her father a fount of humor and fascinating insights, especially since his passage through triple-bypass surgery and valve replacement at age 88. Mullins took her B.A. in history from the University of Virginia and her M.A. in literature from England's University of Sussex. She has edited roughly 200 books for various academic presses and has worked for a modern dance company, an adult bachelor's degree program, a standardized testing program, and the Lutheran church.
